V dňoch 27.-29. mája sa na piatich ihriskách v East Lothian v Škótsku uskutočnil 16. ročník U.S.Kids Golf European Championship 2025. O európsky primát bojovalo viac ako 500 najlepších európskych a svetových golfistov a golfistiek z viac ako 50 krajín.

Najlepší 4 hráči a hráčky v kategóriách G 11-14 a B 11-14 sa kvalifikovali na European Van Horn Cup 2025, ktorý sa hral 30. mája.

V štartovnom poli nechýbali slovenskí hráči na čele s “ najhorúcejším želiezkom v ohni” Zoey Sophiou Pápay v kategórii G 11.

Zoey Sophia hrala na ihrisku Royal Musselburgh GC a už od 1. kola ukázala svoje kvality, keď ako jediná v jej kategórii (24 hráčiek) zahrala prvé kolo pod par a výsledkom -4/68 sa ujala vedenia. Aj v 2. kole pokračovala vo výbornom výkone, zahrala -3/69 a celkovým skóre po dvoch dňoch -7/137 si upevnila pozíciu na 1. mieste o 5 rán pred jej prenasledovateľkou.

Posledný hrací deň bolo v hlavnej úlohe počasie a silný nárazový vietor spôsoboval podmienky miestami na hranici regulárnosti. To ovplyvnilo výkony väčšiny hráčiek, medzi nimi aj Zoey Sophiu, ktorá zahrala +6/78 a celkovým výsledkom po troch hracích dňoch -1/215 (68-69-78) klesla na skvelé 2. miesto. Svojim výkonom opäť potvrdila, že partí do absolútne európskej a svetovej špičky, keď nad jej sily bola iba minuloročná majsterka sveta.

Svojim výsledkom sa zároveň kvalifikovala na European Van Horn Cup 2025, kde remízou so svojou írskou spoluhráčkou prispela k celkovému víťazstvu modrého tímu.

The 16th U.S.Kids Golf European Championship 2025 took place on May 27-29 on five courses in East Lothian, Scotland. More than 500 of the best European and world golfers from over 50 countries competed for European supremacy.

The top 4 players in the G 11-14 and B 11-14 categories qualified for the European Van Horn Cup 2025, which was played on May 30.

The starting field included Slovak players, led by the “hottest iron in the fire” Zoey Sophia Papay in the G 11 category.

Zoey Sophia played on the Royal Musselburgh GC course and showed her qualities from the 1st round, when she was the only one in her category (24 players) to play the first round under par and

took the lead with a score of -4/68. She continued her excellent performance in the 2nd round, playing -3/69 and with a total score of -7/137 after two days, she consolidated her position in 1st place by 5 shots ahead of her pursuer.

The last day of play was dominated by the weather, and strong gusty winds caused conditions on the verge of regularity in places. This affected the performances of most players, including Zoey Sophia, who played +6/78 and with a total result of -1/215 (68-69-78) after three playing days dropped to a great 2nd place. With her performance, she once again confirmed that she belongs to the absolute European and World top, when only last year's world champion was above her.

With her result, she also qualified for the European Van Horn Cup 2025, where she contributed to the overall victory of the blue team by drawing with her Irish teammate.
